Milo Shapiro
Profile
After 15 years in information technology, Milo Shapiro took his 10-year
passion for improvisation into business: teaching corporate staff fundamentals
of improvisation, improving their commitment to communication, teamwork, and
innovation. He has brought this work to organizations like the US Marne Corps,
Union Bank of California, and Computer Sciences Corporation, and San Diego Gas
and Electric.
His interactive solo keynote “You gotta fail … to succeed!” tackles the
difficulty adults have in taking chances because of the discomfort around
failure. After dynamic storytelling, he gets the whole audience playing games
with him…and having fun failing! Inspired clients include Wellpoint/BlueCross,
Minolta, and KaiserPermanente HMO.
In his keynote duo, he creates a ten-point list of principles that relate to
the audience’s interest – such as management or sales or teamwork. For each
point, “The Improvfessionals” perform a hilarious improvisation game that proves
the business principle. Entertained clients include Pfizer, Kodak, and Sempra
Energy.
Milo serves on the local board of the National Speakers Association. In
support of his local community, Milo is also part of another duo that performs
in schools to teach kids about theatre and compassionate communication.
